I kept going for my dogs and cats. I wanted to be a better pet mom to my fur kids. Now I am rewarded by their love and good health and happiness.

Nothin like the serenity prayer. And repeating 3 things you are grateful for. When you wake say thank you a few times.

I find the Positive Affirmations by Dr Harry Henshaw on YouTube very helpful.

I told myself that "maybe I'll get drunk tomorrow, but today, I will try sobriety" (since it had been forever that I was sober! Tomorrow kept turning into today.

For I dipped into the future
far as human eye could see
saw the vision of the world
and all the wonder that would be.
Tennyson

With a pen, wrote this on a giant mirror in my bedroom so I could see it through the day.

I'm having a mental block on the affirmations, but one think that helped me was talking to myself out loud. I did it in my truck on the way to work. I would talk to myself as if I was a therapist.

Think of a time in your life when you were free from addiction and remember how GOOD that felt and what LIBERTY there was........you CAN return to feeling your best again and can even feel better than you thought you could.

Tell yourself that it just gets better and better and better the longer you are clean and sober.

Look around you and notice other people that you admire or look up to as examples of how you might like some of their traits....

LISTEN to other people tell you about their battles and triumphs; paying attention to what they specifically did to help them....

God, please take these stupid thoughts away.

God, please send me the right thought or action for this situation.

God, please save me from being angry.

God, please can I have a car park.

They all work.

^^^This.

We are blessed with a large family and I owe it to them to remain sober. I wasted nearly 15 years being "absent" from their lives. Its my goal to make that up to them.
