Recognized a trigger

I recognized something that triggers my brain to crave a drink. I have noticed that my husband is a very negative person and when he starts complaining about everything I pop a cork and start drinking. Tonight I was making supper and he just stands there complaining about everything and I thought, .... Man, I want a drink! I didn't drink and went to a motivational program with my daughter. I'm here 31 days sober eating candy corn and drinking tea. Feeling good about life!

I hear you! Carpers are the worst! I now try to avoid people who respond to everything in a negative way because I believe negative emotions are more contagious than the common cold. Good strategy to just get away for a while., and that you identified a drinking trigger. That's huge!

Thanks Maudcat! I'm not blaming anyone but myself for my addiction but I did use alcohol as an escape from all his negativity. I'm sure eventually I'm going to say something to him about it and it will be an awful fight but I will be prepared to handle it without a drink,

I remember writing in a previous sobriety journal (and previous sobriety) that I would rather "get out of or stand up to anything" that down another shot of "liquid tolerate"

Easier said than done.

Good on you.
