One Year Yesterday I just needed to tell someone! I will go to my meeting today to get my second 1 year chip, hopefully my last 1 year chip. I relapsed in April of 2015 after 2.5 years thinking I could 'drink socially', it ended badly (of course) and it took till July 10th to finally get 24 hours. This last May 23rd I had hip replacement surgery and did not know that oxy would become a problem for me. I quit it on July 2 when my AA senses came to me and I realized I was no longer taking them for the pain but taking them to chase the numbness (I don't say high, like I don't say buzz anymore with drinking, for me it is the numbness that I desire, the checking out, the laying back and letting my problems pass by only to pile up till I return). So it has been a tough 8-9 days coming down from that new evil entrant into my life. Yep, I am now a drunk and a druggie. :) At least I now understand that regardless of what it is, I am a chaser, an addict, and I fear it daily in now a positive way. Thanks for you guys. I enjoy being in this forum and being along for the ride and struggles with you. |

One year is HUGE Whodathunk, congratulations! Thank you for the message as well, and I hope you can join us more often and share your struggles and successes - they help everyone. |

Congrats on one year!!! <3 |
Congrats on 1 year Whodathunk, very well done! |
Great news on the landmark. Thank you for the comments and you are right. It's the numbness that keeps pulling at me. I never thought of my drinking in this context and it is very helpful today. |
Congrats on one year!! :scoregood |
Thanks you all. Just picked up my chip. I realized after the meeting that most likely my anxiety today was very simply me not wanting to get up in front of people, say my name and say my little piece (very short it was). But I always want to honor the meeting and the spirit of it so instead of snagging a chip after the meeting adjourned, I bit the bullet and got it over with. Yep, felt really good when I sat back down. Kinda helped too, that the guy who went before me got his 34 year chip. Are you kidding me? Took a little pressure off.... :)Maybe I can sleep a little better tonight. |
Congratulations! |
A whole year, Whoda! That is fabulous. :) |
