The #1 reason that I stay sober today is ?
For the reason you listed and also because I want this to be my very last hangover. I am tired of living this way. Third restart since joining a little over two months ago and it will be my last.
The #1 reason that I stay sober today is ?
I helped my cousin move a desk this morning and he looked so shot out.
The old guy that had many years sober has returned to his sin.
Man I don't see how the old guy will live for long at this rate.
Reminded me of how it was and what will happen to me if I go back out.
It still -- ain't pretty out there.
Forgot to mention that the sixty plus year old guy already picked up several court cases in his short time out and the cops raided his house the other day so as to add a couple more. He's probably looking at 6 months to a year in jail? Unless he gets picked up again before his court dates? Man, he's on one terrible roll.
Spending my retirement years in jail or prison is just not my thing.
Addicts just seem to think that it's part of life.
We clean and sober ones know that it isn't.

During my last heavy binges months ago, I woke up surprised my heart hadn't just stopped beating. I couldn't fathom that I had gotten to that state in a few short years. I had changed into someone else.
I don't ever want to go back to feeling that hopeless, afraid, defeated...sick. I am hanging onto hope for every day I'm sober, that I'll recover into who I was meant to be.
It's keeping me sober.

The reason I'm staying sober is because I trust that if I stay clean things will work themselves out and I believe that everything happens for a reason and that my struggles are meant to be a learning period and help me become a stronger person.
With that being said, at only day 22 it's still hard to really want to be sober all the time.

I had a few.
Helped me to One Day At A Time
shoot for 30 days sober.
A nice milestone
that some poor souls
never get to see.
There is no guarantee that we
can ever come back to sobriety
if we leave it behind us.
We take this very seriously.
Never forgetting to be
very grateful for this sober day.

The #1 reason that I stay sober today is ?
I wish for a day here at home filled with serenity
and a nice dinner out with my wife tonight.
I have noticed that some new to sobriety may call my plans for the day boring. It took a little time but, I have learned to truly enjoy these simple relaxing days.
As I look back I see where many days while drinking were a war zone.
The war is long over -- Thank God.
