positive thought for the day
A long time ago, I wrote to Alex Haley and he wrote me back! And on the bottom of his stationery was the phrase: Find the good and praise it. And it's been my motto ever since.

Graced-
I got through yesterday and feel much more like my "self" (new, in recovery one that is) this morning - still sleepies in my eyes, though
All I was up to yesterday, beyond getting through work without snapping at anyone and doing a focused-enough job was just what I am learning to do: reach out to my sponsor, two close program friends (one who walked out of my usual meeting with me just to talk for a few minutes bc I was so agitated) and do my prayers extra hard all day, plus my usual devotional/BB + an extra source. And I got one (important) "secular" task done.
It was d*mn good to go to bed last night.
Hope everyone has a positive day, today -
With that:
"Don't bring negative to my door." - Maya Angelou

“Hope” is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -
And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard -
And sore must be the storm -
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm -
I’ve heard it in the chillest land -
And on the strangest Sea -
Yet - never - in Extremity,
It asked a crumb - of me.
Emily Dickinson

I really, really love this one. I think of this whenever I get overwhelmed by the dark stuff...
This being human is a guest house
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
