Awareness

I work with employee benefits - health insurance always tops the list of what people talk about. Many companies offer smoking cessation incentives: stop smoking programs and several types of financial rewards for not using tobacco.
Similarly, many companies have weight loss and diabetic support programs as these are also common issues that drive up the cost of medical insurance.
I understand that alcoholism and drug addiction have a stigma attached to them. No one ever rewards employees for not using or quitting these substances even though the costs to companies are very high, too. (higher dollar health claims, missed time at work, workforce turnover, on the job accidents, etc)

I was delighted today to see an organization promoting support for stopping substance abuse; theherrenproject.org
They're doing community awareness programs . I thought I'd share with you.
Some day, I'm sure, it will be a little more acceptable to admit to our problems and have more help readily available. At least, I hope so.
