What age did you start drinking? I think I was about 9 when I tried a slip of wine |
Age 12 I think there was a big family on my fathers side 12 brothers 2 sisters and there was always big gatherings . I remember the green cans of pale ale and tasting it , Loved it from that first time even . |

I remember sipping on my father's scotch at about 11-12, but the first time I got drunk was 15. |
First sip 13, by 15 beer was often |
16. lost it at the schools leave party. Wanted to show off in front of boys, that I keep up with them, lost it completely. My parent, were so wonderful, havent heard a word of blame from them, though it was disgusting that night. Should have been a lesson to learn, but, alas, then Uni followed with all its so called independence...... |
Almost 30. |
First sip around 8 years old, each time dad asked me to grab him a beer, i cracked it and took a sip. Then about 14 years old on a regular basis. 30 now and working on kicking it for the billionth time. |
Any other "late bloomers" I wonder... I started late and went long and hard. Pretty much hit the ground running too- there was no real build up as far as tolerance or amount. |
There's a long thread on this topic on the next page back. First sip, that I remember distinctly because I thought it tasted so awful (beer), I was probably 5-6. |
I was about 8 when I took my first sip, but I didn't get drunk for the first time until I was 12 |
Welcome, Trey! I can't remember my first sips, but my first can of beer was at age 12. Here's that other thread on this topic: http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...-drinking.html |
I was 13, it was my first time drinking, I got very drunk, puked in public, and couldn't wait to do it again. :dee :headbange :scorebad |
Malt liquor at fifteen. |
19. Didn't drink abnormally or alcoholically until around 25. From 25 to 32 I drank heavily, every night, alcoholically. I was hungover every day, seven days a week. I stopped drinking at 32. |
First drink was at Busch Gardens. Maybe I was 8. They served us Apple beer. First puking drunk: 14. Bourbon. Plus a box of chocolate bars. Guess what I woke up covered in? |

My brother got me drunk for the first time at 9, stoned at 8. I think the first time I drank 'alcoholically' I was 11. Cool huh? |
18 - Freshman in college. Then I made up for lost time.... I was a binge drinker in college and kinda burned out by age 22. From 22-26 my eating disorder was in full swing so I rarely drank because of the calories. When I picked up booze again at age 26 I took off like a rocket (more like a submarine) and it brought me down very fast and very hard. It's true that this is a progressive illness. In 4 years of barely drinking EVER my illness still progressed. I finally quit altogether at 33. |
