Has anyone ever lied to get out of heavy drinking events?
Making sacrifices has been required for me to stay sober.
And for that matter, when it comes to my sobriety, I make the rules (they come from AA, but other people don't get to make demands of me for anything which relates to my sobriety).
This is a great topic.
I hope that you continue to make your sobriety your foremost priority.
I may have lied to get out of social obligations which scared me when I was new to recovery - I simply can't remember.
I just tell people I'm a recovering alcoholic, period.
I owe no one any further explanation.
