occasionally I just like to count days sober - Pt 4
Still counting here on the mountain (days sober)
Grateful -- very grateful.
Sure is nice watching you all add up your sober days, months and years.
Occasionally I just like to see my sober days called out on my desktop.
To be honest I wouldn't even be exactly sure of my days sober
if they were not there in my face each day.
I see nothing wrong with keeping track of total days sober.
If some of you would want to join in
please feel free to post your days of sobriety here.
If I keep doing what I have been doing for over 6 years now
each day sober is a record for me.
note -- this is after many, many attempts to stay sober
today I have 3,099 days sober
yes -- I'm very grateful
for my life is not a battle today
the drinking war is over
if
I do not deceive myself yet again
as I have done so many times before
thinking that this time I can control my drinking
in my case (always proven to be wrong)
have a blessed sober day,

I'm on 430 days and still can't believe I can write that. My best attempt before this reached 100.
I tried to count or at least estimate the number of attempts prior to this, some more wholehearted that others. I came up with a number in the hundreds. I have a lot to be grateful for.

I still remember how proud I was just to make it thru that first week, first month, first year, etc. I hope you all feel the same. For most of us, this is a life and death matter. I'm so happy for those of us that are choosing to live.
I posted this in the Morning Gratitude thread this morning and thought I'd share it here:
Feeling extra grateful this morning for my sobriety. I'm pretty certain I'd be dead by now if I hadn't decided to stop the madness on that fateful day in June of 2009.
So, it's on to Day 2,491 and counting...
