Hi Islanders. Went to my sister's for the weekend. Always interesting to be back home again. Much has changed then again somethings have not. Yep Courage, back in Central Illinois. Just passed by Springfield though, spent all weekend in Decatur. Woohoo! Took some fun outdoor pics I will post when back and have them edited. Have a good Sunday Islanders!

Speaking of Orka, I had some pickled Orka recently. Pickled and spicy. It was pretty good. I usually only like okra fried. I guess it's Orka season. I saw some white Asparagus in the stores here. In Germany, early spring, I think is white asparagus season, they call it spargel. Good stuff.

Hi Lenina! Does white asparagus taste the same as the green ones? And I've never tried okra so I always have that to look forward to.

Puffy, I've never had it here. It doesn't look as good. In Germany, it's tastier. A little fuller flavor. It's usually served with thinly sliced ham and hollandaise sauce. They make a special event of the Spargel Season.

I'm not a big okra person -- my old ma was afraid of southern influences on her wasp aspirations -- but I <3 spara-grass (as my pa called it). Fresh, pickled ...anyone tried asparagus guacamole?
