The Island of Misfit Drunks, Part 3
I'm off to London to visit the Queen tomorrow a.m. before the break of day. Tra la!
I drove back to ATL and when I got to the apartment and put the shifter in Park, the motor freaked out. Then it wouldn't turn over.
Spent all of Tuesday with a mobile mechanic trying to find the problem(s). There's water in the oil, wet plugs, broken valve pieces in a cylinder, and indications of jammed timing chains. In other words: blown motor. The mechanic is putting together estimates.
This was the last place I saw the queen whilst in London:

I had to say good bye to my faithful 1990 Buick Century last year. Just too many problems to economically repair. Engine computer controls, transaxle, wheel cylinders, all needed major work or replacing. Since the car was still in basically solid shape and clean, I sold it to a shade tree mechanic for $450. I had the car for about 18 years, it was my late aunt's. Had 4800 miles when I got it in 1998.
My 2000 Buick, purchased from a 93 year old lady who said she just did not need two cars anymore, probably will not last as long. Centurys were indestructible.
On the truck: I need to find a code reader to make sure the computer is ok. My mechanic is working doubletime to find me an affordable motor. Got to make sure that won't be wasted money.
I spent the weekend getting my mojo back. I need a better job. I'm getting motivated and hungry.
