A good, non-thinking activity

It's been a while...really long while...since I jogged...sober. Went to the closest football field and did some 100s. Didn't hurt like I thought it would, but I'm sure I will be feeling it in the morning.

I didn't do any drugs or drinking until my senior year in high school. Part of what led to me saying "Forget working hard to get better at sports and just be cool like all the popular, cool dudes" was me listening to the negativity around me:
1) You'll never play ball at a big-time college.
2) Even if you do make a big-time college team, you'll never play pro.
3) There's more to life than basketball.
4) Why waste your time playing a kids' game when you could be cool - going to drinking parties, meeting girls, and making friends with cool people.

Dang, I was foolish. Trying not to be foolish again.

it's good to hear you are enjoying a thing! That's not generally encouraged in our highly competitive dog eat dog society. I have much respect for anyone who excels at thing as well, though- possibly those negative messages were coming from jealous individuals?

In my experience, also, those who were truly talented were also innately humble. Just naturally beautiful souls who's intent was to share their talents, not too busy trying to knock others "out of the game" or trash talk. They weren't even concerned with it. No sense of entitlement.

I bet you have a lot of talent in there still. Can't wait to hear what you do sober.

Want a high that you won't believe? Try trail running.. it's unbelievable if you want to get the mind to settle down and forget life for awhile.
