Did/Does drinking affect your taste in music?
yup. I woken up to TONS of metal music on my web history..I'd never listen to it sober... Such angry music. I'm different when I drink...
Hi Maxx,
Music is such a great part of our lives! My hubby and his brothers (5 total) always play Beatles music at family get togethers. Or just one on one playing at our home. My husband is also lead singer of an 80's band. Music is joyful in our home, thank my HP for this blessing!
NOW.....if you want to talk about TV shows. I cannot watch The Chew on ABC in the afternoon. It must have been a que to me...it's telling me "Only a few more hours till I can drink".
I pretty much stopped all daytime TV watching, because when 4:00pm came...it was the beginning of wine time in my I Love Lucy kitchen. I began selling on eBay as an alternative to just watching TV. Good choice for me too!

Maxx! My taste stayed about the same. But my love of playing music and making a home studio took a while to come back. Wasn't as fun without a joint and a beer. But I just bought a new guitar and I'm getting into it again. Music technology, guitars, mics, tube amps are just plain cool:-)

I still like most of the same kinds of music, but there are certain bands/songs I can't listen to yet without disturbing reminders of the state of mind I was in when I drank. I was heavily into bands like Tool and NIN during my drinking years. A friend of mine, and long-time AA member, advised me not to go there just yet. He's probably right.
No, my taste in music has not been affected so far. I still love anything that jams to include Jimi Hendrix, Guns 'n Roses, Tupac, Steve Vai, and so on and so forth. For me good music is about people sharing feelings. Why do I have to be high or drunk to enjoy that? I don't. I understand that some if not a lot of the music I listen to was created while the musicians were on booze or drugs, but I don't let that deter me from appreciating the emotion that they choose to share.
