Julie's Journal ...... My accountability to myself and you
Julie's Journal ...... My accountability to myself and you
Hi everyone ..... Is early Monday morning here. Yesterday when I was supposed to be working (I work Sun-Thu) but had no motivation to work,
I spent about three hours on SR. So many of you are making yourselves post daily and sometimes even more often. It has inspired me to do the same. No one has to read it, but if I make myself do it then hopefully it will help me in many ways to get of this Merry - Go - Round. .... (Nothing merry about it!!! )
I have so many opportunities to make my life better both work wise and personally. But obviously this is NEVER going to happen if I keep drinking.
SO DAY 1 ...again .....
My goals for today.....
Get through this first day without a drink.
Complete two work issue deadlines.
Post on here as often as I like and feel the need to.
Read some of the Recovery Plans available on SR
Happy Days everyone and talk again soon ..... And Thankyou to all who have inspired me to do this

At work ... have completed part of one job
The things I could accomplish at night time if I didn't drink at night time..
Enjoy a proper evening meal.
Enjoy watching the many TV series and murder mysteries that I love
Do my crafting work which I also love .....sewing, crocheting, quilting, etc etc
Enjoy reading my book
Gardening while the nights are still reasonably light
Do my Travel work (which of course earns me more income
And this list goes on........... followed by feeling great the next morning that I would have accomplished so much
For everyone who is on the other side of the world I hope you are all having a lovely sleep xx

Julie, your comment about all the other things you can do in the evening instead of drinking is something that worked well for me. I didn't just put off having a drink, I'd get involved in something else. If you start gardening, for example, that's a distraction that might get you through those evening hours when you may have in the past stated drinking.
Good day, Julie.
After years of floundering, I changed up a number of things, including making a commitment to myself to post here twice daily. This task is a bit bigger than first meets the eye perhaps, because I have never been good at journaling.
1. Someone might read it. (And they do!)
2. I write what I think and later look back at what rubbish it is. In the past, this caused me to abandon every single journal I started. Here, I can't do that. I haven't yet gone back to read, but I know the history is there and somehow I can bear it now. Even the embarrassing parts.
3. A few years back, I was "stalked" by one of my kids. It was deeply embarrassing to have her read and share what she learned from my on-line activity with her younger sibling. While that kept me away for a good long time, it's stood me in good stead this go-round. Previously, my focus was off. Now I only write here what I would be "ok" with my kids reading (they are young women now). Not that I hope they will or think they will, but that keeps my focus on sobriety. All of the rest of my junk will come with time or belongs elsewhere.
So welcome to the world of daily posting! I hope you keep up with it and look forward to sharing your journey.

Hope you were able to find an alternative activity after work Julie. I personally found that keeping a very regimented schedule of my day helped...idle time is when the AV speaks the loudest. Maybe take a different route home from work? Or perhaps stop someplace you've never been to get something good to eat or bring home to cook?
Great work! I agree with Scott, try to fill in that 2:50 time slot with something different and positive to your recovery!! I had the same thoughts that would pop in my head on my way home from work, ended up changing clothes at work and stopping by the park for a good hour walk!
Keep up the good work, sounds like you're getting a lot done around the house!! That's great!! Enjoy your evening!

Hello everyone ..... the time difference between most of us means I didn't get all your lovely responses for a little while. I'm still struggling (fine at work ... until I get home) ..... but I am going to keep posting .... I do appreciate all your comments and as Obladi (interesting pseudonym ) I will keep posting. Certainly AV is driving my life at the moment..... HollyWouldnt said I have some cool activities .... how stupid am I not to try and pursue them!!! Next question .... who suffers from procrastination ??? Again thank you for your responses ....
