second relapse after a month

I've been drinking for about 6 years and I never feel right when not drinking (may be medication) but I had a relapse and had a 3 day bender three weeks ago and stopped and now I want to stop again, will it be safe?

I wish I could answer that, but everyone is different. Some folks can drink a lot and stop without severe withdrawals, and others who drink less can have terrible withdrawals. Your best bet is to seek medical intervention during your detox. You can go to your doc or even an urgent care and get meds that will help you through the process and prevent seizures. If you choose not to do that, try to have someone with you during your detox so they can get you some help if needed. Detox can be dangerous and it's best not to take chances.

Wishing you all the best in your recovery.

I don't know how much you're drinking, but you've quit before so you know what will happen - and safe is relative, is it safe to keep drinking and go on multi-day benders? If you drink a lot, of course you don't feel right when you're not actively drinking, that's what chemical dependency does. It all gets better if you quit and stay quit.

It depends on the amounts & the individual & we can't give medical advice so the best thing would be to see a Dr I done cold turkey & I was ok but others might not be as there can be DT's which are life threatening

I'm glad you posted and decided to put a plug in the jug! If you have doubts go see your doctor! Get a recovery plan together and don't take that first drink!! Good luck!!!

I've seen unsupervised quitting kill a person.

Hi blestparasite

I would see a Dr because, as several people have noted, we can't know whats in store for you.
I never feel right when not drinking
no I didn't either - drinking had become my default normal.
If that doesn't scare you, nothing will

After a while - it might take a month or two - not only will you feel normal sober but you'll remember a life you've forgotten about right now.

I hope you decide to give it a go.

D
