Congrats Quinn!!!
I to am 8 days sober, I feel you on the bragging part. For me Its like I have something to be proud of (for once in my life). A week is a HUGE accomplishment, keep doing what your doing, and keep in touch.

Thanks everyone!
All,
Thanks for the encouragement! I'm feeling so good now, I can't believe how I used to live & feel. I feel very positive about my future now.
You guys are great,
Quinn

being careful
12 days sober now!
The help I got was from my wife, Mom, Dad, and this forum. It's true, I have to remember to not get cocky, because that's what happened 4 months ago, when I thought I could drink "a little". For me, there is no such thing.
On a side note, I've been reading about a lot of people who are struggling with the idea of "never" drinking again, like a normal person. This is a frustrating issue for many of us, I think. Me included. However, sometimes I think about people with diebetes; they can never chow down on a several chocolate bars, Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Ho-Ho's, real Pepsi, etc, without severe physical consequences. Well, alcoholics are the same way. We are different in how we react with alcohol. I know it's an overly simplistic analogy, but it reminds me all people have some trouble issues. Minor ones, like stage fright, major ones, like high blood pressure, etc.
Anyway, I have so much more energy these days, sober. I'll stay in touch!

Good for you. You are worth it.
I find that the one day at a time thing really works. I NEVER say I'm not drinking for the rest of my life, only today. That's all I have. I've actually gotten over a bad spell by saying, I will drink tomorrow. Somehow it gave my mind peace. The craving passes and when tomorrow came, I said a big "Whew"
Keep your mind open to AA or other groups. The comfort of someone who knows what its like is what I need and now crave. IT really does work.
CONGRATS ON YOUR NEWFOUND SOBRIETY.
