6 Year sober celebration...
6 Year sober celebration...
Hey, so I cut out booze 6 years ago today, and celebrated by running my first Ultra-marathon last night/this morning...
I will say, even though I've run a good number of marathons, running a 50 miler is a different animal....and, I really dig it....the race was a heck of a lot colder than my training (an all night run, at that), and my beard was filled with ice when I was done, but....I ran strong and felt good...CRUSHED my predicted time...and won my division...
That's a way different Saturday night/Sunday Morning than I had 6 years ago!!
Just thought I'd check in...I don't post all that often, but I still read the board almost daily...
Onward and upward, y'all!

Congrats on six years!!
And 50 miles...wow!
I think it's so amazing to hear about the things that some people accomplish once they're sober. Early recovery is hard but then it's like life opens up and there aren't any limits if we just go for it.
Thanks for posting.

Absolutely!! Putting even a quarter of the effort into a goal that we put into staying drunk/hungover can go a looooooong way!
