Remembering 2015

2015 was a sober year for me, and all-in-all a good year. On the eve of the new year, I remember two people from these forums who died this year. I miss them!

RIP Rob (RobbyRobot) and Ray (Grtgrandpa)

Thank you, Courage.

Rob and Ray, rest in peace. Your work here is done but your light continues to illuminate the path.

I was here in the past under a previous incarnation and watched these sad events unfold, the way Robby's authenticty thread developed was heart breaking and inspirational.....highlighted every decent part of the human spirit, I hope one day I have the courage to stand in the face of the storm the way he did.

yes, the missing.
struck by the title of your thread, courage2, as when sober we do get to remember and appreciate so much more.
the drunk years...so much of them was lost in a blur, or weird perspectives...

Thanks for the reminder, Courage. Both Ray & Rob were what SR is all about.

I'd also like to remember CarolD today. She and Dee were the very first ones to welcome me to SR and made me feel that I was in the right place during those first few shaky months of recovery. I dare say that without Carol and Dee, this place wouldn't be what it is today.

I never knew CarolD but I know she was loved and respected here.

I hope we can carry the influence of these good people into the future. A sober life is precious in itself but even more so for the sake of those who help us to it.

Happy New Year Courage and all. 2015 was a good year for me too. I didn't really know grtgranpa but Rob was instrumental in moving me along. A couple of times I have gone back and reread some of his posts when I am feeling stuck. Maybe grtgrandpa is worth a reread too.

They will always be part of team SR as we pick up their mantle and continue to share the good news that sobriety is indeed possible.

I would like to add lifetplant to the list of those who left us in 2015, and Laurie6781 and SoozyQ to this list of those who are gone but not forgotten.

I dare say that without Carol and Dee, this place wouldn't be what it is today.
I think Carol had a lot more to do with SR as it is - I'm a johnny come lately FBL

I'm grateful to be part of a great forum team
