Ah yes, I can relate to this so well. First I gave up hard liqour, because those were the real culprits. Then I tried some Controlled drinking with wine and beer- because those were basically just fermented fruit and therefore it was like health food. I eventually found it was easier to avoid it all.

Glad to hear you're on day 2 and back on track bullmas.

I too use to love red wine. I even like the
song Red Red Wine, but don't remember
who sung it.

Glad your here with many of us living
a life in recovery and those continueing
to learn healthier ways to remain sober
each day we don't drink poison.

And that is all alcohol and drugs are, Poison.
Poison wrapped up in pretty disguises thinking
it could and would trip us up.

The more knowledge and education we
have on addiction to alcohol and drugs
the better equipped we are in standing
strong against it and live a healthier, happier,
honest life for yrs. to come.

Glad your here beginning your recovery
journey with many traveling along the
same similar road of recovery as us. Strength,
understanding, care and support comes in
numbers.

We stand together strong in the fellowship
of recovery and life.

Welcome back Bullmas. The holidays are a difficult time of the year for us on many different levels. Any plans on what you might do differently to bolster your sobriety "toolkit" this time around?

I'm all for self improvement and anything we can do to improve our health can only better the quality of life. But the gym is hardly a proven program for the recovery from alcoholism.

Think about what you can do to support your decision to get sober and help you learn to live and love a sober life.

Good luck.

I thought maybe wine would not pull me in
ah yes; the thought that this time for some reason it would turn out differently.

i could stop drinking when i finally understood and accepted that it would never ever be different in the outcome.

way to go on day 2!

Alcohol is cunning, baffling and powerful. And also very patient.

If you tripped up at Thanksgiving, and from the sounds of it, are still drinking regularly, you need a better sobriety plan.
