35 Days without drinking ..

Never thought I'd make it this far.

Been an alcoholic since I was 18, I'm 25 now. It came to a point where I couldn't spent a Friday or Saturday night without getting wasted. There was no such thing as one or two drinks for me, I had no control, It was either 10+ drinks or none.

I've been more productive at work lately, hence not coming in hung-over and sweating and anxious. I have social anxiety so I used alcohol to help get me through social situations. I'm still afraid to go out to a bar or for dinner because I'm afraid I will drink.

Getting through Christmas is going to be a challenge, since I'm seeing family on both sides and there will be drinking going on. I've already planned not to stay too long at either house because I'm worried I will get tempted into drinking.

Life without drinking is better, I find myself rather bored lately but I know it's worth it in the long run and I just have to stay strong.

Welcome to SR, JQuick; glad you found us.

Congratulations on 35 sober days; well done.

Maybe, bring your non-alcoholic beverage of choice to the family parties so that you always have something ready or in-hand.

Good to hear that you like sober life; it keeps getting better and better.

Congratulations JQuick!

I'm happy to hear you're thinking ahead.

Having an exit plan is an excellent idea.

Great job on 35 days JQ! I'v e realized in getting sober that I have some pretty extreme social anxiety. Deep breathing & relaxation meditation helps a lot. Also taking anxiety med, which seems to help. Great book available on Amazon called "Anxiety & phobia workbook" by Edward Bourne...lots of great info & tools. Keep moving forward !!
