Finally decided it's time

Hi everyone. This is my first time on here and I can really relate to most of you guys. My last drink was 7 hours ago -- 2 beers. I have been binging since thanksgiving and I am really feeling it this time. I have a doctors appointment on Tuesday but I don't know if I should wait that long. I'm so scared I have really messed up my body this time. I just turned 30 and I really think it's time to stop. I've always loved to drink but the last 1-1.5 years it's been a problem and my body is begging me to stop.

Welcome Tans. You've made a great decision. Getting to the Dr's sooner is a very good idea.
Good luck
xx

Glad you've made the decision to quit Tans, you'll be happy that you did in the long run. The initial withdrawals can be difficult both physically and emotionally, but they are temporary. Making a dr appointment was a great idea too...but don't be afraid to seek help sooner if you have physical concerns.

Thank you everyone. I just really don't want to feel like this anymore. It feels good at the moment but after it really sucks. I'm so glad to get the support here!

You don't have to feel that way any longer, a lot of us got to that point where we were sick and tired of feeling "sick and tired". You'll find a lot of support here but also resources and information on all the different recovery methods and plans that are used. A great read is the following thread in the newcomers forum about that very subject

Hi! Best decision I've made in along time was quitting booze. I've haven't fevers this happy and felt this great in years. I know if you continue to stay sober you will feel the same. I'm still new the sober game (80 plus pr minus days).

Welcome Tans! You are so smart to be doing this now. I waited far too long, and my life became a disaster. Happy to have you with us.

Welcome aboard, Tans. This is a great forum to receive support from. You are wise to stop drinking now before even more damage is done. Ditto the wisdom of seeing your doctor to see where you are with things.

Know this: you can overcome this and you can get better. Have faith in yourself, but get as much help as you need. Life is far too beautiful and precious to waste by destroying it with drink.

So I haven't had anything to drink for a week and I feel so good. I went to the doctor and got my test results and everything looks good. I'm so happy and I am never going to feel the way I did last week again. I'm done!

I'm glad you're a week sober and are feeling better. The first week can be awful, so congrats on making it through. I'm glad the DR appointment went well.

Good luck

Great news Tans, thanks for sharing. SR is always here if you need help making a sobriety plan or just need some extra support.
