You can and you will if you really want to. Looking at your join date looks like you've been pursuing this for a while. Are you ready to call it quits? Believe me I know that it's a tough question but that's where you have to begin.
Be well.

I have and yes I am. I really need to kick myself in the relevant places and do it now.

Yes, there are others here and thanks for the concern, I haven't started drinking anymore than my last time although I got a little older. I am not too concerned but I have to do it this time. Thanks.

Most people here have or are where you are at. Trust me if I could quit, anyone can you just have had to had enough. It's much more peaceful on the other side. You'll get lots of diverse advice here to help you through. The main thing is just doing something about it. The alternative just keeps getting uglier the longer you carry on.
Well, if this detox is a problem and you end up relapsing, just know that a doctor can help relieve withdrawal symptoms and cravings.

Thanks, its truly appreciated. I have to hang about this time. I thought I had conquered this the last time (ages ago) but hadn't. I even managed to control it for a bit (in my mind) but we all know I hadn't really and here I am.
At least this time its only me that has started it, no outside pressure, I really WANT to do this!

Sounds like you have the right attitude.
I thought I would never be able to live without it. Now I can't figure out why I would ever want to live that way. Just took years of kicking my own a$$ to see the light.
Good luck with your journey.

That's great you really want to stop, Paul. I think that's the key as you will be motivated to make the changes to make it happen. Keep posting on SR. I had a couple of slips over the last few months but because I kept posting I didn't go back to my old, 15 year habit of binge drinking 2 or 3 times a week.
