Thank you Emme, thats so nice of you, I was only telling my flatmate how nice everyone on here was to me, she couldn't believe how we Alkies help each other with such kind words. She says she'd like to go on a date with one... Hahahahaha Isaid u could do worse, everyone on a good program is loving and considerate. She never drank in her life but shes a shoppaholic, I guess we all have our problems...http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...k_Emoticon.gif

In early sobriety I told myself that if I was going to buy one I might as well buy an 18 pack

Stop. The beast is sitting next to you. Make it leave, now.

Anabuse sounds like a good idea to remove temptation.

Keep posting and know you can get through this.
That voice telling you one won't hurt isn't your friend

Ring your fellow alkie friend and hang in there Paddy

Ringing a friend sounds like a good idea, paddy. Cravings don't last forever, you can fight them! We're all with you and rooting for ya.

(((((Paddy)))))

Wishing you well and a sober day. I agree ringing your friend for a coffee sounds good. I'm on my way to grab one myself

I'm saying a prayer for you to push through your cravings today!

Paddy, Ireland is part of that European socialist type of model, and with the long history of drinking problems in Ireland, I'm a little surprised there isn't a lot of free help (rehab facilities/outreach programs, etc.). Even while looking at the local news over there, right on page one was an article dealing with the drunk driving problem over there! It just doesn't make sense that you seem to be "white knuckling" it alone without being in a facility to help you through the early stages.

Yes there are plenty of places but cost a lot of money which I don't have at the moment, I got sober first after 7 treatment centers, one of which was a great help but you get one chance only in there which I have completed, my counsellor in there is now my best friend and contacts me regularly but my problem is, when ever I'm asked how am I doing I say 'I'm grand' when really I'm not. I've always liked people thinking I am in a better place then I really am. I guess thats an Irish thing too. As I said I am meeting with an addiction outreach worker tomorrow, don't know how that will pan out but anything is worth a go... I rang a member a while ago and he is bringing me to a meeting tonight. We have 150 AA meetings alone every week going on in Cork so I have no excuse only the fact that I prefer 'Death by Duvet' the worst possible place to be. I'm still drink free since yesterday though, it's really tough but I know it will get easier.

Great news, paddy, I'm sure glad you are here.

I hope that you (and I) don't drink any more alcohol.

We have all had enough.

There is a better life out there than obsessing over alcohol.

When you feel tempted remember how low you were a few days ago. Drinking will only take you back to that place.

I'm loving witnessing all the support for Paddy. Warms the cockles of my heart, and you so deserve it, Paddy.

P.S. My son's name is Patrick. You have the best name in the world, imo :-D

24hrs down, no drink, it's a miracle, been a tough day .. The mind can play strange things to you when you are vulnerable, i will get on my knees and thank my higher power for keeping me free from alcohol today and pray for the suffering addict out there. peace out, good night all.

Me too!

Glad you made it back Paddy. It looks like God has something better in mind for you. It will be worth hanging in there to find out what it is.
