Yay! The tinnitus is back!

The jet roars to my right. Whichever way I turn. Even with a finger in my ear. Wheee!

Sometimes minutes, sometimes days. I once walked around my house for hours trying to find the noise. It's all in my head. Weird thing: It doesn't interfere with my hearing. It's just there.

It stops. It comes back. It took me an entire night to figure out what it was. YAY, I'm not insane!

I literally walked around my house that was out in the middle of nowhere Georgia, trying to find the rumbling noise in the house systems. Then I decided it was the quarry down the road. Then...I realized it followed me when I left the house. Tinnitus.

Or, I'm actually insane. And you are all in SO much trouble.

I have it to, it usually is really bad when drinking. It's kinda like when I used to live in an apt and the people above me moved around a lot.. I kinda just phased it out. But no your not insane

Ugh Trach I hope it goes away REAL fast.
I have the normal ringing kind, or like a high pitched thing. Never goes away.
Had my hearing checked 10 years ago, said I heard better than most.
But silence is never mine.

Had it since I bashed my head in a car accident in 2002. Constant high pitched hissing sound. Never ends but I forget about it most of the time. Until of coarse something reminds me. Thanks

I had a very serious ear infection in 1992 that started when I was traveling and involved in a time sensitive project. Took 5 plane flights in as many days and then car trips to remote places. I was not able to get it treated and the pressure of flying was horrible. It started then and never stopped. only in left ear Get it checked every so often to see if it can be helped. But recently saw an Otologist and Audiologist and am getting fitted for hearing aids and checked for any nerve damage. We will see.

So sorry you are dealing with this my dear turtle friend.

I know the feeling. When mine gets bad it pulses with my hearbeart too. Never seems to be a reason why it comes and goes either. I've been to ENTs and they say it's most likely from hearing loss caused by damage earlier in life. White noise or background music sometimes helps.

^^^^^^Lol

I have it too - several high pitched notes all the time in the background. It's funny how you don't notice it when you don't think about it. Yours sounds unusual, Trach, the way it comes on suddenly then disappears. I always knew you were weird :-)

White noise really works for me. I downloaded an mp3 to my phone a few years ago which helps me to fall asleep no matter how bad the tinnitus is that day. Don't laugh, I found it on a baby related page here: Baby Sleep Noise : Downloads Page

My tinnitus comes and goes, but I did find a relation between stress levels and severity, so relaxing can help turning down the "beep" or "roar" volume.

Mind you, I'm not belittling it at all. When it first started for me I really freaked out - especially as the doc said there's nothing they can do. I also used it as yet another reason to drink more (ain't that AV clever...). Since getting sober it became less noticeable most days, probably because I learned how to relax and not pay attention to it (and yes, I can hear it now because I'm writing about it. )
