Just can't drink enough water!? This is nuts!!

I'm going on a week and some of sobriety. Even when I was parched and hungover, I never drank this much water!! I am using the bathroom quite often, though. So is my body doing a natural detox, or what?

My weight is holding steady. I initially lost a few pounds the first few days of sobriety. With all the riding I am doing, I thought it would drop a bit more, but it must be the water.

Is this normal? How long will this faze last?

Well nobody likes to hear this but, go see a doctor.
I was/am going all the time, like to the point the kids I watched were asking why I went so much and it turned out the diagnosis was prediabetes.

Just had blood work done not all that long ago. All was good. I am commuting to work by bike, plus it is pretty hot this week.

Had the exact same thing happen to me its like the thirst never left! I think our bodies try to get rid of excess fluid from the years of drinking, happens with the intermittent high blood pressure thats caused from drinking too,

Our bodies are trying and learning to correct all the defincies

Your body is talking to you, listen to it. I've gone through it. Re hydration

More water, more trips to the loo.
Drinking too much alcohol does the same and poisons you as well.
See a doc if you are concerned.

I had this too. Was really relentless, waking up and drinking water all night some nights and still thirsty. Then normal for a few days, and then constant thirst for a few days again etc. I went and had my sugar tested and was all normal. It went away after about three weeks for me. Had it not I would have gone and done a full medical because it was beyond anything normal.

I am still curious as to what was the cause. I speculate perhaps the kidneys being so constantly amped up from all their hyperactivity flushing out toxins that they hadn't yet adjusted to their absence ? I'd be interested to know if anyone can enlighten me.

Drink lots of water, and as said, make sure you keep in contact with your doctor.

Be cautious of drinking too much though so your electrolyte levels don't get too far out of whack.

The dehydration thing lasted 7-10 days if that's what you mean

Because of cycling in the heat, I am downing some post-workout recovery stuff, usually gatorade. I also drink a protein shake once I am at work simply because its quick and easy calories.

I think the above posters are right. All those years of my kidneys (all my organs really) having to process all that whiskey 7 days/week. Now they are just trying to balance themselves out.

Just thought of this: I started putting two TBSP of apple cider vinegar in my water twice a day. Helps draw toxins out and does a good job of flushing the entire urinary tract.

I used to do this to help hangovers!! It really helped!!
