Hello again everyone...
Hello again everyone...
I am on my secound try of quiting drinking. As of today I am on day 3 and so far I haven't really had any bad withdrawls. I have had a slight headache and been anxious, not sleeping well but so far so good. I have had strong cravings, when I do I go for a walk or make me some tea. I have also been reading this forum alot, it helps me to know I am not the only one going through this addiction and that it can get better. I joined the forum and tried to quit back in November and lasted a week but my wife left me and I put my head back in the bottle. I so want to make it this time.
Good to see you starting again, sb. Day 3 is a huge achievement. Those first few are so challenging. You can do it, sb. As you've probably learned, drinking doesn't make us feel better - it just adds to our anxiety.
Getting sober is never wasting your time. Way to go on day three. The first week for me was the hardest. You can do this and we are all here to help. Keep posting, keep reading and don't pick up the first drink, NO MATTER WHAT. It works. The days string together, then the weeks. One day at a time, I know you can do this. It is good to see you trying again.
Don't let your inner addict use negative feeling like self pity or pride against you sb - there is a lot of support here.
Have you checked out the Class of August support thread?

sb1969 sometimes I have trouble posting . I get timed out & I lose my replies . Which I did with yours . I could at least push the thank you button to show - I was reading your post's .
Come back & let us know what we can do .

welcome back, sb.
i haven't found posting a waste of time ever, though sometimes it hurts when there's not as much feedback as expected. when that happens, sometimes my expectations are possibly skewed...
great to see you pull your head back out of that bottle and congratulations on your sober days.
stick around.

Self pity is a terrible thing. Its counter productive, its an excuse and its a total waste of time sb1969. Unfortunately for us alcoholics it makes us slip back into our comfort zone. And thats being drunk. Heres how you beat self pity, quit drinking. You have to go longer than a week. But eventually your Outlook on life will improve. And it wont take long.
One other thing sb, be thankful that you have time to "waste". Cause if you continue drinking, you won't.

Hey sb, just wanted to give you support and say I'm here for you, I've also been trying to quit drinking for awhile and I keep going longer and longer between drinks, even though I haven't been able to totally stop yet. Here for you
