I do too, Cathy. I often wonder about the people who come in and post a few times, spark some interesting conversations, and then disappear. Her last post was on another interesting thread:

...and that thread's author was only here for three posts.
ps--congratulations on 1000 posts!

I think and feel it is Worse to be psychologically addicted to alcohol than physically. The mind is so complex and it is harder to change your way of thinking than it is to physically detox from alcohol.
Call it what you want but I say if you are concerned with yourself and your alcohol behavior/drinking then it is for sure a problemo.
I got to a point where I was tired of the whole mental obsession of drinking or not drinking; it's best to not do it all.
I do not think anyone should drink alcohol. There are no positive benefits to it period. We as humans are not supposed to ingest alcohol. It is not a normal part of our food chain to live.
Intoxicated means 'toxic' which means 'poison' to the human body.
It takes many years to finally say 'no kidding, this is a waste of time' etc.

WE CANNOT drink that one or two because for us the FIRST one is the beginning of the evil cycle! For so many different reasons so many of us have developed this disease and we are the ones that must stay away from the drink (a first one). If someone would consume 20 - 40 steaks per a day it would be toxic also, or to stay with liquid issues, if someone would consume 20 - 40 "Coca-Colas" per a day, he or she would, for sure, die well before then if the choice would have been a beer.
My father had occasional beer or a glass of wine and he never ever needed another one. Moreover, he never understood why anyone who's not thirsty would need another drink? And he's not the only one I know with this attitude.

an interesting point you've made
but
it's not up to anyone to take someone's invetory
as, in "you are not an alcoholic
it's a personal thing
i sometimes wonder myself
some qualify and don't mention the blackouts, dwi's, etc
and how about the young people
i know someone who came in at like 18 or 19
how bad could they have been?
but
i've come to realize that no matter
if they are clinically defined as alcoholic or not
i've seen a lot turn their lives around
with the help of the program
the steps, sponsor, meetings, etc
so as long as there is a seat
why not?
i tend to focus on myself
i'm sure over the years
some got to drunk one time in their life
and
the wife said "AA or the highway"
or
got a call from their banker
and was asked what's going on with the heavy withdrawals
whichever way, they found a new way to live
the AA WAY
