I have never taken it, but if your doctor has prescribed it I'd either take his advice or seek a second opinion. I'd also make sure the therapist you are working with is aware too.

malamute,
i was prescribed it by an employer physician years ago.
i went to the library (this was the old days), looked it up in some heavy and heavy-duty medical tomes, read about the side effects and went to my own doctor with my concerns about this drug.
we had a very short chat. short, because she told me no.

it's worth a second opinion.

This was prescribed a long time ago for neuropathic pain that worsened during the night and kept me awake. It did not ease the pain, but did offer me a good night's sleep and was welcomed but not continued for the long term.

A member of my family also uses a small dose daily for migraine prevention and has been taking for many years with success.

Best wishes to you!

I have taken it in small doses for another reason and have had no issues but everyone is different. There are certainly other avenues to help with insomnia - meditation, exercise, etc.

#1 Make sure you're being honest with your doctor about your history #2 If you're concerned about it, either speak with your doctor about them or seek a second opinion.

Neuro once made me try it, but it didn't work for my neuropathy. It did make me sleepy. That said, I didn't know they use it for sleeping problems. Personally I would get a second opinion (from a real doc obviously). If you do decide to go forward, make sure you titrate up and down as prescribed, it's a serious drug.
