Heat and humidity I don't think I asked this before, but after quitting drinking, did anyone's tolerance to heat and humidity improve? |
Mine did. It makes a vast amount of difference not being drunk and smoking 40 cigarettes. D |
One complaint I have about loosing weight is that i'm cold all the time now. I guess its a good thing to have to complain about. I always ran hotter when i drank the booze warmed me up. |
After about how long Dee? |
Haven't been on the board for awhile. Reads like you're doing well quitting. Keep it up and congrats! :c011: |
I've been sober about a month and a half. I'm much less bothered by the heat and humidity now than I have been in summers past when I was drinking. When it gets into the 80's or 90's and is humid I sweat an appropriate amount and don't feel woozy. Not sure where you're at in your sobriety but I'd venture a guess that a couple of weeks sans drinking should improve heat/humidity tolerance quite a bit. Stay cool, you! |
I'm from the hot & humid south, so I'm guessing I've always somehow managed it :) Wouldn't really have it any other way now, to be honest. I love our climate (most days). There was a noticeable change in my tolerance of less than ideal circumstances in general though :) Health improved, cognition, emotions ... all of it. |
Maybe I have a double whammy since I am getting off benzoes too. Last year I was woozy and tired in the heat even after a couple weeks not drinking. I was still trying to get off benzoes but on my own, so no real supervision like I have now. |

I work outside and when I was drinking daily I simply could not tolerate the heat very well at all. Especially above 90 degrees, no wind and humid. I would get heat headaches, and sweat profusely. The only cure was when I got home to slam a couple stiff ones to feel better and get my appetite back. It has totally subsided, sure I get hot....when its hot out, but I've noticed a change that was mind blowing. And a relief. |

I do great in heat and can work out in 90 plus degrees which was not at all possible when I was drinking. I also now routinely work out in the sun for hours doing heavy labor like shovel work, moving big objects, pulling weeds, cutting small trees etc. and that kind of intensive labor was also not possible before I quit drinking and got healthy. Something to look forward to. . . |
Not putting poison into my body every day made it easier for me to tolerate all kinds of things better! |
I normally run "hot", but there's a huge difference in 2 years. My current car doesn't have AC and I'm surviving quite well. If I were still drinking, I'd be in big trouble. |
