Naltexrone?

Anyone take this? Sorry if this has been asked before...
My Dr said it helps with the physical cravings but not the psychological cravings. So that seems useless, I always drink due to stress which would be psychological.
Any experiences?

I never tried it but I did try Ativan for a while but it didn't really help. I just read up on Naltrexone and it has some side effects which could interact badly with alcohol so just don't drink at all if you take it.

My personal belief has always been that you are trading one drug for another and only prolonging the agony of removing the addictive element from your life. The longer you rely on other drugs to help you get off your drug of the choice the longer and harder it will be to finally be free.

I take Naltrexone and it helps me a lot with the cravings. I did just get a pretty bad craving last night however but that was the first one in quite a few days. My cravings were a lot worse before. I am not looking forward to going off of it though and I think my doctor is only going to have me take it 2-3 months.

I've been taking Naltrexone for about 1 month. It has reduced my cravings for alcohol significantly. I have had no side effects and it is non-addictive. This drug along with my support group has me feeling very positive about my future in recovery. It also comes as an injection you only need once a month. I've been at this recovery thing for many years, and this is the most promising tool to come around. Best Wishes
