I am still rather new here but four years ago today I started my detox and have been sober since. I have been fortunate in that I never had cravings or obsessions. Only once did I almost relapse. It was four months in and we were facing a potentially devastating hurricane. I allowed myself to become overwhelmed with a sense of helplessness and hopelessness. I realized that no matter what I have to face nothing is hopeless and I am never helpless.
Learning to honor and respect who and what I am, making sure I always take care of my emotional health have been key to my success. There is only one thing can't do and that's use alcohol for anything. Otherwise the world is open and I can do anything.
