Today is my biggest test... red hot weather outside (something which really makes me want to drink) and I'm off to a company event with lots of work colleagues who are all big drinkers.

There is going to be unlimited free alcohol.

I've elected to take the car which was met with a few bemused faces but never mind.

Wish me luck - I think I might need it!!

I hope it works out for you. I would imagine if you remain sober you'll have a different perspective on the event.

Personally I wouldn't go but if you do make a brief appearance and leave. No work function is worth risking your sobriety

If you feel you must go, have a plan - think about the likely scenarios - what to say when someone offers you s drink...how to deal with cravings and peer pressure...

always carry a (soft drink) with you....and have an escape plan for if things get too much.

Sounds like a bad idea to me, especially early on. I'm sure others will miss it due to family reasons, illness, vacation, etc. Can you honestly say you won't drink with all that temptation?
