Smile Wahoo made it through the weekend

Thanks people you all helped me through. Tonight my friends were hanging out again and I joined and drank almond milk and coffee. They all had beer and I fleetingly wanted one.
So that's done.
Now I am just hanging with my boyfriend(Jake Gyllenhall) and listening to radio shows

Only 19 days into abstaining.

Hi Sleepie,
You are great, but I have always wanted to ask you this question but yet have also been fearful to.

So you are on a benzo maintenance program, right? If so, I would probably say that you are on a harm reduction program, right?

That's ok, ask away. Nope it's not maintenance- it's a taper- the slow process of getting off of them. I am not abusing them, I take them as prescribed in smaller and smaller doses until I am free of them completely.

Great, I see you that agree. My husband and I just got back from eating out at a restaurant, even though we had already had someone over for Memorial Today, but we were still hungry later.

It will be interesting to see how you handle everything off of them. Everything can change. For me, when I guit gambling, everything changed for me. I have been forced to confront life head on, and I haven't been ready- as evidenced by my return to drinking beer and wine.

Haha , not exactly- I do not agree that I am on a "harm reduction" program.
Nothing is being harmed- it is improving if anything.
Benzos cannot be cold turkeyed.

The taper is plenty challenging- as far as I see it I am not intoxicated or hungover and therefor sober. Plenty of people take meds as prescribed, just like I am doing.

When I have taken benzos in the past, I have felt very intoxicated. In fact, when I used benzos, I did not feel the "need" to use alcohol. It can very well be stated that your alcohol sobriety has been contingent upon your benzo use.

I am not here to split hairs, this is an argument that has been had all over this forum and in many an AA room.

I will continue my path either way, with the helpful support of my SR friends.

And maintain that I am sober, under a doctor's supervision and in a process that does not happen overnight.

I think that's jumping to a conclusion, '007.

Thank you, you as well
I know that I desire a life free entirely of alcohol and benzos. I would suggest it for anyone who is questioning whether or not they have a problem. An ounce of prevention and all of that...
I hope we will see you here and endeavoring for the same... it really is for the best. It sounds like you are young and healthy so far- treasure that and kick alcohol out of your life. You, like anyone, deserve to be happy and entirely present in life.
