I was diagnosed with a psychological condition that doesn't elicit sympathy when I was a teenager, so I can relate to that part. It took me a long time to accept that, but I did. I still have some issues, but they are very mild at this point. I prefer online and written communication over talking in person or on the phone (which I particularly dislike). I used to really struggle to connect with other people emotionally, but I seem to do okay now as long as the demands on me aren't too great.

NVLD is not a "sexy" disorder. Like Bi Polar, Depression and Schizophrenia have been portrayed in television and movies as having otherworldly qualities, elevated consciousness or genius potential. By Hollywood, as played by attractive actors with comfortable backgrounds.
