I Finally Got A Sponsor!
Today I asked one of my AA contacts to be my sponsor. Even though he is a guy and I am a woman, I am not worried about any issue there, as we have been friends for years. He is also 30 years older than me.
The reason why I asked this person is because of his availability. I was finding that a lot of my female AA contacts had families and children and were not too available. This guy is very available and has many years of sobriety.
So I am pretty excited that I have changed something on this new Day 1. Thank you all for your continued support, I really do appreciate it.

Thank you. I am just tired of taking steps and then relapsing. I need something to change, so maybe this new sponsor is it.
My sponsor did tell me today that every time someone relapses, it is that much harder to keep sobriety in the future because you get used to slipping and being a relapser. He also told me that his other sponsee had 8 years of sobriety and lost it and is still out there using. I can't believe that. The most I had was 3 years, but 9 years is amazing.

Congrats on your new sponsor. One little tip I learned, to make sure my sponsor is taking me in the right direction, and that is to know the big book better than he does.. If what he has me doing fits with the big book, I know I'm on the right track.

Hi.
Good for you for having a sponsor.
A BIG suggestion now is to use him/her as so many have one but never use them. It is a fact that a sponsor often receives much help/satisfaction as the sponsee.

It`s not so unusual to hear a member share about being in and out 15-20 years.
