think today about my cousint

haven't seen him in a while now

last time I saw him he wanted to talk about AA with me, I told him a bit about what I been through and how AA has helped me. he seemed to be paying attention and was into our talk.

I could see the obsession returning later that day at the family thing. he started looking a little anxious. next thing I knew he was over at the beer. I felt a feeling of utter sadness in my belly as I watched him because I had invited him to my meeting later that night.

I guess we are ready when were ready, huh?

maybe i'll reach out to him today and give him a call. just see how hes doing, no mention of recovery.

"maybe i'll reach out to him today and give him a call. just see how hes doing, no mention of recovery. "

On 10 Feb 1980, a Sunday morning, I was hungover after a relapse and my AA friend Danny called to see how I was. He had sensed something was wrong, and when I told him, I remember him saying in his lovely Cockney accent, "I fort that might 'appen." He showed me what AA was really about with that call. He took me to a meeting that night. I never drank again.

You never know what good will come if you reach out to somone who needs help.

It's nice that he has a sober family member there for him if and when needed.
