Can anyone give me any perspective/proportion on my LFTs?

I'm 24, male trying to get sober again (Already inpatient detoxed once, lasted 3 weeks)

I have been binge drinking since about age 17. Though I drink socially, most of the time I'm in my room playing video games or watching something. I just like to do most things with a buzz as an "enhancer" of an activity.Quantity wise it started off once a week for a year, about 20-25 units. But slowly got more frequent and more units per session. At peak I was binge drinking at-least 4 times a week and usually at least 28 units a time, but could be more on occasion.

I went to the Alcohol Service yesterday. They are going to try and put me on a community detox instead of inpatient this time. I received an email today from the support worker and what he said about my LFTs concerned me.

Not asking for medical advice but in your experience how unusual are these results perhaps compared to your own etc and also why might my GGT be normal considering how much I drink? Just some perspective and proportion because I'm now convinced I'm on deaths door needing a liver transplant or something....

I should also add that when I had my bloods done last time, I had been drinking the night before.

I have now to ask your GP for the recent test results.
Still hoping to offer ambulatory detox and am preparing the case for a different decision than you received last time.
Your liver results thus far are unusual but should not exclude careful treatment.
Once the GP has responded I will approach the nurse who decides.
If I don’t get the answer I hope , then the boss wants to discuss further.

In what sense are the results unusual? Do they indicate permanent damage?

Always dodgy asking someone with a little knowledge…
Still awaiting GP summary.
This is not in any way gospel but in 2013 your ALT was in normal range.
In 2014 it was around 163 , significantly outside the normal range.
I think you told me a recent one was around 140, an improvement over time.
Your GGT however through this time not particularly alarming.
Which is unusual I believe for a drinker.
Once you are sober I suggest you ask to see your GP and discuss it with him.
He may decide to send you to a hepatologist if like me he thinks it an unusual presentation.
Who knows, erythromycin might have something to do with it.
I stress again though that an informed opinion is worth more than my speculation.
The results are worthless without skilled interpretation.

Not trying to be a wiseguy but I agree with Dave.
That's one for your GP, SB.

British, I think those results suggest you should find a way to not drink and stay stopped. That's all I'm going to say

Never fear, the Conservatives will have your back for the next 5 years

My liver is bad. I was mixing booze with benzo's. Going for a liver function test next month. After a month of sobriety.
