Scott Weiland is a good deterrant

For anyone struggling to stay sober or feeling like they need a good excuse to stay off drugs and alcohol, check this out.

Sad to see so many talented artists lose their skills or even their lives to addiction. Scott Weiland has battled for decades.

I dug around for a story online about the performance and I love his PR guy's explanation: " it was a perfect storm of lack of sleep and a couple of drinks before the show." Yeah right.

I don't know much about the band but I know he's high profile enough for something like this to not be the best thing in the world career wise. Apparently he had another incident involving being drunk and rude to people whole paid 150 bucks for a meet and greet backstage after a performance recently.
Substance abuse is all too common in the music world. It's a profession where you're all but expected to drink before going on the job. Not hard to see why so many people have their lights snuffed out from being in that world.

It's easy for a pop idol to do himself in.You have all the money you need, so if your vice is cocaine or heroin instead of booze, you can kill yourself in a few
months. As a rock star everything is done for you, so it doesn't matter how incapacitated you are. They treat you like an infant, and soon you begin to act
like one. You never have to be sober enough to do your laundry or drive to work. Your life, your day-to-day existence, is part of a grand plan drawn up in an
agent's office. There's a sophisticated organization behind you, arranging your life for you, waiting for you to pay off.

And there's never anybody around to stop you from hurting yourself. That's because people are afraid. You're a star and you make millions of dollars
and that intimidates them. Some people won't dare tell you you're killing yourself, and others don't think you deserve the consideration.

Just watched this.

There's no way you can honestly expect anyone to believe this was lack of sleep and 'a few drinks'.

And that's why this is almost worse for celebrities. Instead of honestly helping them, they're whisked away to their next performance to continue the grind. Too much money is riding on these people, and no one wants to stop the party train lest they miss out.

It's more like no one wants to stop the gravy train.

Oh man. This made me feel really sad. And it got me to re-watch Alice In Chains MTV unplugged. Seriously cried seeing Layne Staley in that condition, so broken and still that incredible voice and strength. He tried to get help and couldn't find his way through.

Oh boy, I thought Scott was sober. I was a big fan of STP.

He was on the Stern show on April 3rd and performed live. Below is a link to the performance. He was in much better shape:

I watched this earlier & what kept crossing my mind was

Normally if a frontman is wasted the band generally arnt happy but the band wernt even looking around as if to say whats going on

better yet before they went on they must of known he was in a bad way ?

what im getting at is if this is what it looks like it looks as if the band dont even care they just keep playing

i found that heartbreaking in so many ways its bad enough battling addiction but when your own band members/friends dont even care enough to say were going to sit this one out thats pretty horrific in my book

Poor guy looked lost i really hope he seeks help

I saw 2015, but is this old or did he relapse? I would hate to think the latter.

That video was shot 2 days ago. He was interviewed the next day and said he was just tired and had "a couple drinks".

Sounds a lot like something I would have come up with on a day after a bender....

He was gone. To sing that off key from the band requires a high degree of drunkenness. He also introduced the song as a new tune they had just worked out that day, but I read that it's an old tune from earlier in his career.

Wow! His performance just made me cringe with embarrassment for him.

It's really sad. I saw STP in the 90s when Scott was sober and he was awesome. So sad, such a waste of life.
