grogginess and foggy headedness
That happened to me too about 5 weeks sober and lasted a week. I thought I was getting sick, but I never did. I just rode it out and it went away. Still not sure what caused it but then bam- energy and alertness came back.
I was very sick in my brain and body when I stopped. I had fogginess for months with windows of clarity mixed in though. Frustrating? Yes. But I knew the only way to go was forward. Drinking would only restart the whole process again.
But, I felt foggy and tired when I was drinking every night and a whole mountain of other crap so it was nothing new. I had been living in a fog for years. I am finally coming out of it after about nine months.
Another thing, the fogginess was a piece of cake compared to hangovers. I felt better on day three than I did hungover everyday.
