No One

Someone to support me, guide me and understand what I'm going through. My mum doesn't, dad has dementia, hate my sister, can't get a girl because of issues with my testosterone levels. Only 1 true friend which I hardly see.

Bh, you really don't have to do this alone. There are AA meetings almost everywhere--everyone at those meetings understands what you're going through. We understand here at SoberRecovery too--but you have to work at it--read around and post often.

All those issues you've listed, none of them has to stop you from being okay and staying quit. It's not easy, but doesn't mean everything has to be right before we can stay sober. We all had our challenges when we quit.

Try to have an open mind and you'll see new opportunities. Doesn't have to be a downer, yeah?

The meds they given me Lorazepam are making me really depressed but they are helping me withdraw safely.

When I feel like the whole world is against me, I count my blessings. Sometimes that is really hard.
I like to run and years ago did a 10K in Central Park in NY. The disabled (Achilles Team) went first. At some point in the race I passed one of them -a woman in a wheel chair who only had one arm. She had some assistance but was mostly doing it on her own. What an amazing woman!
I think of her when I start getting down about things. She got out there anyway and finished.

I hope things improve for you soon.

Yeah, depression is its own thing sometimes too. You know, each day that you stay quit is getting you to a better place within you. Eventually around you too. I had to do a 3 month intensive residential rehab to get myself sober. I was some hot mess, lol. Needed a supervised detox. Brutal times.

Good to hear you're withdrawing safely.

Along with AA meetings and SR, I recite the Serenity Prayer a lot. Don't have anybody around me to give me advice or pat me on the back either and it does get me down from time to time, but I figure I stand a better chance of that changing if I stay sober. Stay hopeful. John

I did have someone, about 10 since I've been like this. But I just push away. I don't wanna know.

No women, no doctor, no support worker. Nothing.

I understand the pushing away. I've done the same. Pushing away though doesn't do us any favors. Being an island isn't a wonderful thing. I know this to be true for me. Once a guy learns to push away though, it's not a cakewalk to change out such behaviors. Doable though.

Not that we should just lie down and let people walk over us. Still though, pushing others away is a slippery slope.

Hope you're feeling better Bh28.

Hey Bh. I'm sorry you feel alone. You're not though. Jesus love you and He's with you. I'm rooting for you too.

There is someone, who wants to get to know me and support me. But I'm ignoring her and pushing her away.
