alcohol and body stiffness
i work with a guy who has been and alcoholic for the past 40 something years .The past two years he's been sober i was talking to him the other day and he talked about how .Now since he's stopped drinking how more loose and less rigid his body is .How he is actually able to bend all the way over he's 54 now he told me when he used to drink he could bend over part of the way that was it .He said he's more loose i asked him if it was because of the boozing he said yeah but he couldn't give me a reason why that was .I figured i'd come on here and ask hoping someone on here would maybe know .
I was also severely dehydrated every single day and god knows you can die from dehydration!
Drinking heavily tends to go hand in hand with sitting - sitting on a bar stool, sitting on a couch, sitting in front of the computer. A body that doesn't move becomes stiff. Muscles shorten with disuse. Dehydration makes muscles not as "bounce-back-able" (or "juicy").
Add in a few serious falls, smashing into furniture & doors, and you have a tight, aching, non-flexible body.
It might sound a little cosmic, but I've always believed in a strong body/mind connection - an inflexible approach to life also tightens the body. Alcoholism is containing, limiting, and inflexible!

simple answer is proper diet along with exercise the weight comes off and the muscles loosen up and work well once your all fit and toned. But that solution doesnt come in a pill or a bottle sadly.
When i lost weight and such after quiting people asked how did i do it ! they'd marvel at my success. when i told them diet and exercise and hard work they faces just slumped. They where hoping i had some magical answer that didnt require effort.
Now I'll tell people I take this supplement called Getoffyourbuttandmoveandeathealthy. This also doesnt go over well either. I cant win.

doggon i've actually started to quick didn't have a drink last night so far ive gotten two days with out it . Not back to back two days with out i get alot of stiffness when i'm working at the place i work at .its a warehouse for the most part and you standing up over the course of the day my back get stiff my legs will kind of get stiff and my feet kill.they are just the worse . i'm 5'5 got to be pushing 200lbs and ive bought insoles for a boots thinking that would change things . I think the reality of it is i just have to drop the pounds and the days where i drink.i wont want to drink alot of water today i started drinking alot of water and i actually feel a little less tight and more relaxed .i do experience alot of popping in my feet my knees and legs
Why not quit for 6 months. You might be surprised how good you'll feel physically, and mentally. And if you struggle to stay quit, well, that should tell you something.

@ doggon i have given serious thought too it that's why im on this site i went a period of time with out booze like 4-5 months i couldnt remember .i used to write down each day i went sober .It back fires on you because your always thinking about it which i learned the hard way .Now i realize you can't write it down or think about it .You just have to put it out of your mind completely .I'll tell you its not and easy thing at all to do because you like doing it .How did you quit and stay away from the booze ? or the urges to drink which create a anxiety inside u . ?
I feel 300% better now physically then I did when I drank. My shoulders and legs no longer ache. I hardly ever have a flair up in my hip. I have gobs of energy now compared to before. I am 46 and feel better now then I did at 36. For real! I feel like I got a new body.
Mentally I am healthier too but that is a whole other thread!

i'm going to set a 7 day goal for being sober ,i think getting over addiction is about just growing the hell up .I'm 32 no more excuses for my behavior its about taking my life back as and adult and being responsible for my actions .giving in too the alcoholic impulses stems from my college partying years.parties over i cant control myself anymore its a real issue .

in time the anxiety / obsessing over that next drink subsides. it really does you just have to stick to it and be mindful of the fact that your AV is always working to try and trick you into drnken!
With your job and weight and such I'd buy the best shoes I could afford and i'd replace them very regularly maybe too regularly. Even if i was slim and trim I'd do the same. It can go a long way in helping with the aches and pains. If your required to wear boots I know theres some good ones out there for all day wear. It stinks tho they all wear out so fast a lot faster then we realize and then your back to pain again just have to stay on top of it.
If you dont feel good physically or mentally or are off kilter in anyway your inclined to go pickup that next drink.
I was heavy 275lbs at my worse i felt terrble aches and pains all over and i'd get depressed not really becuase of my weight. I never cared what i looked like or nothing like that. I was jut in pain and felt terrible I didnt realize I was depressed and it was all to easy at the end of the day to be like aaaa pour me a drink beucase it'll make all of this feel better.
As i got healthier slimmer fitter the last thing i wanted to do was put anything bad in me I don twanna feel bad if i feel bad in one way i'm liable to say screw it and eat a piece of cake or light up a smoke or drink a beer. I'll start maken excuses etc..
But it all started with day 1 of no drinking. It took a long time for me to get it figured out. 6 months after i got sober i started still feeling crummy I quit smoking and started dieting and execising 6 months after that I had lost the weight. physically felt good by that point mentall I still had work to do etc.. Its a process a journey if you will and its an important one.
It gets easier with time. Just work on one day at a time and if you think its not working or you wanna throw in the towel dont just keep moving forward. If you get knocked down you just get up and keep moving forward.

I'm gun-ho about it for sure now ,things have really been affecting me physically more than anything .I'm 5'6 and im in the neighborhood of 200lbs so as you can imagine it's not comfortable to be on your feet all day weighing what i weigh . My mental is not to bad i dont get as much sleep as i should be getting though which messes things up for me . i started taking b12 vitamin and that helps alot pick me up . I gotten back into the habit of drinking water as well as much water as i can . It helps the days where i dont drink though i experience clarity .i know anyone in there right mind would love that and wouldnt want to go back to anything else but for a fog brain like myself .It's not easy thing is i dont drink to push down my problems .I like the taste of booze after a long day of work or whatever i like to kick back and relax with a cold beverage im just at the stage where i want to do it all the time and i can't just have one or two .My eyes are opening to the truth though and i'm going to really try hard and give it my best effort to quit period .Stop doing it all together its not worth it anymore when it affects your life its time to give it up for good .
alcohol doesn't allow the body to absorb some B vitamins, so the more you stay stopped, the better off your body will be. Maybe add some stretching and some exercising so you aren't so stiff. Remember to replace lost electrolytes (ask your doctor about this) and eat a well balanced diet with little processed foods.....
you can stay stopped!!
