Socializing sans alcohol I planned my weekend earlier in the week putting myself in a strong position to avoid invitations to the pub. If I don't drink alcohol why would I go to the pub! Such an amazingly different start to my Saturday from when I was boozing: up early, 6.30, feeling great. That in itself is a miracle for a Saturday morning whereby before I would get up, feeling terrible, wanting to die, rummaging around for my painkillers, then go back to bed. Sleep/lay about as much as I would be allowed to without husband getting the hump! Unable to do anything, just feeling awful all day long wishing for the day to end!!! Today I was washed, dressed, make-up on!!!! All by 9.30, then walked my dogs. Back home for a spot of brunch, then off on the tube to meet my cousin in town to visit the Thea Porter exhibition in bermondsey street. Had a truly lovely day - daughter came along too- then stopping for a bite to eat, spot of shopping on the way before heading home. Life without alcohell gets better & better. I tell myself I can do anything, go anywhere, drive anywhere if I wish. I no longer poison myself & spend all weekend getting over it. Thanks for listening x |
I'm so happy for you. I hope one day i can confidently socialize sans alcohol! I always drink in social situations because I think i'm boring and much more witty with a few drinks in me. Liquid courage to tame my social anxiety. I'm also more of an introvert than an extrovert, so I drink to become an "extrovert". I think the solution is to embrace my introvert side and accept the sober me, which really isn't that bad. Lol. |
