Socializing sans alcohol

I planned my weekend earlier in the week putting myself in a strong position to avoid invitations to the pub. If I don't drink alcohol why would I go to the pub!

Such an amazingly different start to my Saturday from when I was boozing: up early, 6.30, feeling great. That in itself is a miracle for a Saturday morning whereby before I would get up, feeling terrible, wanting to die, rummaging around for my painkillers, then go back to bed. Sleep/lay about as much as I would be allowed to without husband getting the hump! Unable to do anything, just feeling awful all day long wishing for the day to end!!! Today I was washed, dressed, make-up on!!!! All by 9.30, then walked my dogs. Back home for a spot of brunch, then off on the tube to meet my cousin in town to visit the Thea Porter exhibition in bermondsey street. Had a truly lovely day - daughter came along too- then stopping for a bite to eat, spot of shopping on the way before heading home.

Life without alcohell gets better & better. I tell myself I can do anything, go anywhere, drive anywhere if I wish. I no longer poison myself & spend all weekend getting over it. Thanks for listening x

I'm so happy for you. I hope one day i can confidently socialize sans alcohol!
I always drink in social situations because I think i'm boring and much more witty with a few drinks in me. Liquid courage to tame my social anxiety.
I'm also more of an introvert than an extrovert, so I drink to become an "extrovert".
I think the solution is to embrace my introvert side and accept the sober me, which really isn't that bad. Lol.

That's great, Lillyknitting. It's lovely to wake up knowing what you did the day before with no misgivings.

Well done Lilly, I went to a party last night all were drinking I had diet coke the people looked stupid drinking ?

Sober has some terrific upsides, thanks to all posters rarely do I read a thread and don't get some inspiration or idea or see myself doing the same daft action.
