I think it's a personal thing.

Counting days was tangible proof of progress for me.

I stopped counting days after day 90 because the idea of living this way forever didn't scare me as much anymore.

Personally tho? I'd be wary of any thought that I was 'getting over this thing'
For me this is a lifetime deal - I need to see it in those terms...and I'm comfortable with that

In the sense that the days have added up to the point that I'm having to get out a calendar to determine the exact count, I agree with you, zvang. When I started looking more at the number of weeks and then months (5 months today), I knew I was more comfortable in this new way of living.
I still have to stay vigilant. I had a half glass of wine a couple weeks ago because I wasn't ready to tell this particular friend I no longer drink. Made it through without rousing the beast, but I don't intend to do it again.

I stopped counting when I began to feel like I was still competeing for something I'd already won.

This was a symbolic shift in my thinking and approach which did (and does not) weaken my resolve or commitment.

I totally appreciate- and celebrate- those with a different approach.

Or we stop counting because we aren't sober. Be careful.
