Thinking about the wonderful life of sobriety

I know I have struggled in the past with my alcoholism. I am sober right now... but I continue to relapse on day 1 and 2. I wish to be sober... I keep fighting for it. I want to live a life of sobriety and kick this habit. These posts have helped me. It gives me a place to vent. This time is different... there is an pressing sensation against my soul, an urge that is irresistible... to change for the better.

Q: When is too much of a bad thing good?

A: When too much suffering leads to change.

Stick close to SR lion, especially if you feel like you might drink.
You can do this...day 3 and beyond awaits

So what is your plan for sobriety? AA? Rehab? This message board, while useful, is not an adequate substitute for either. I've seen you profess good intentions numerous times, but I've yet to hear a plan. Good intentions are only the beginning and won't carry you very far on their own.

Never give up, LionOfJudah; keep adding tools to your sober toolbox.

You can do this.

Hi.

Many that are sober today have/had little “tricks” that helped us.
For me I needed to remind myself that the first drink gets me drunk, I cannot drink in safety anymore, remember when the pain was overwhelming, I won’t have to try to get sober AGAIN if I don’t pick up a drink one day at a time in a row.
I needed meetings, meetings, meetings and keep coming for my reinforcement.

BE WELL

Not to be a broken record... But please, LOJ, reach out to AA just for short-term help. These people know the ropes and can help you get the tools and resources you need to get through your first days (and weeks) sober.

Whether or not you like their ways, they are 100% committed to helping suffering alcoholics achieve sobriety. They will rush to your aid.

If you were in a dark alley, and a bigger, stronger assailant was attacking you, would you try to fight him alone? No! You'd cry "Help! Help!"

Alcohol is a bigger, stronger assailant. It's kicking your ---. It's not only okay, but SMART, to call for help!!!
