That's great news, glad you've spoken with a doctor and worked out a plan zvang. 7 days is a fantastic accomplishment, be proud of yourself for taking the necessary steps to get where you are.

so............ you're done with alcohol?

sounds like it. from what I gather, there is only one reason for you to drink again - because you want to.

get a solid month under you belt and start getting off the meds - just my opinion I am NOT a trained medical person. Also get outside help in the form of support. People support.

If you are tapering with the doc's help and you trust him/her (sounds like you do), following instructions is key. Best wishes.

Congratulations! When I did the same I considered it my short term solution and the opportunity I badly needed to develop a long-term...aka lifetime plan. I did just that and will be celebrating my fourth year sober 5/23/15.

Take advantage of this beautiful opportunity, you'll discover that Sobriety is indeed a wonderful thing!

Congratulations - and trust the doctor, not the opinions of laypeople on an internet forum. Although I'm only about 5 months in myself, I am still taking lorazepam and baclofen as needed for anxiety and cravings, and I am not ashamed of it. Because sometimes rigorous honesty and self-reflection just isn't enough (at least for me) to keep me from wanting to reach for that bottle.

P. S. Cold turkey off booze is dangerous. Good for you for seeking medical help.

hang in there zvang. as was said, follow the doctors orders!

You will have cravings for a while. Be stringer than the caving. And learn some techniques to get you through them.

It very well could be. I know the side effects of tegretol (which is something to prevent seizures, by the way. Nothing like Antabuse) is drowsiness and it's definitely a side effect of the lorazepam. In fact I use lorazepam for insomnia. Have no experience with antidepressants so I couldn't tell you about that.

FYI - tegretol is used to prevent the potential seizures from detox. So glad you chose to detox under medical supervision!

The only good thing about detoxing at a hospital is that they give you pabrinex injections shot in your bum.
