I'm back again
I'm back again
Hey all,
I'm back after a 10 month hiatus. Things have been going OK with work but I am still drinking and I am starting to feel more serious effects of it.
I plan on staying sober today especially since I feel rotten inside, I have a slight ache in my right side (liver, gull bladder area) and I am pretty sure I have elevated liver enzymes or fatty liver.
I have gained about 10 pounds over the last year but I need to lose 30 to get back down to my proper weight.
I live alone in a new city so it's been difficult to stay away from alcohol, I get bored and end up at the liquor store.
I am fortunate that I am staying with my parents this weekend but I stayed up late both nights sneaking bourbon and vodka after my parents went to bed. I felt awful this morning.
I went for a brisk 30 min walk with my Mom and dogs and I felt better after but still quite squeamish.
I prepared a prime rib of beef and Greek potatoes for my family but I had to force it down and made an excuse to leave the table early because of a headache.
My family thinks I have stopped drinking, I don't have the balls to tell them, they think I have been doing really well the past year.
This is the only group that has helped me in the past but I stopped because I thought I was cured but of course we are never cured. I have tried A.A. but I am atheist to the core so it is kind of a conflict for me. I have heard there are other non 12 step approaches as well.
Anyway, I am back and I will check in with you all frequently and start over again.
Thanks for reading

Hi Sorensen
Welcome back, and good luck with the big plan this time.
Now, if we can just change that avatar of yours over to a much better team with jets on their sweaters...
I'll look forward to reading of your progress.

Thanks, I will be rooting for the jets if they clinch a playoff spot
Hi Sorenson...a delayed yet hearty 'welcome back'. A midnight snack sounds tasty. Especially with mustard. Have you checked out the secular programs here on SR before...like RR, AVRT?

Definitely better than a beer. All week long I have cookies and milk before bed and I sleep like a baby. Weekends have been a different story. Working on that.

Reading AVRT just seemed to reach out and slap me upside the head. We decide what goes down with these bodies of ours, for the most part. We have the power to make positive change- and it is painless and so rewarding. And, being from Alberta- no tax!
Enjoy the freedom- I still giggle waking up every morning- no headaches, no checking e mail sent folders to see what damage I caused last night- the Mrs. is actually smiling these days- it's all good!
Good luck to you- bro. You can do this.
