4 degrees below zero

The thought of drinking is playing ping pong in my brain.

and that's all I have to say about that-- Forrest Gump

Makes me grumpy. Hope you all have a great day.

it's Friday. The Ping-Pong was usually in full effect on a Friday.
Do you have a plan Thomas?

Same question as Jupiters, Thomas. Are you working on a plan for sobriety; do you have something to fill the time usually spent drinking; have you made your home a safe place?

My home is my safe place. Unfortunately, the liquor store is 2 minutes away. I'm a former college wrestler and our High School State Tournament is today and tomorrow. Got a couple friends whose kids are wrestling. Might go down to see them later today or tomorrow.

Sounds like fun, Thomas; changing our routines and hang-outs really helps break the cycle.

Make a deal with yourself that you won't go to the liquor store, any liquor store whatsoever, come hell or high water. Those bottles in there are not your friend; they will only take you back, take you under.

Some of the people in the Class of October 'hiss' at liquor bottles if they come across them; I got a big kick out of that when I read it. I find myself thinking of that when a liquor commercial comes on television and have caught myself hissing at the television - rather adds to my disdain. Hiss at that liquor store as you pass it.

Don't forget we are here for you, Thomas.

good idea.
weekends are hard to navigate, no doubt about that. I always have a plan in place b/c it's those times that I don't where my AV starts really acting up.
Normally I have a list of different things I want to do to keep my mind/body occupied.
I don't struggle *too* much now, but in the early days...oh hell...a plan was essential.
Good luck Thomas. Stay close to SR and keep busy!
also - remind yourself why you chose to quit and all the bad crap that will come with the drinking.
