Sorry to do this
Hello, sorry to do this, but at the risk of boring you all to death I am going to attempt to post something here each day. This site is the very first time I've reached out for any type of support. I feel if I post each day, it will help keep my focus off of drinking on the weekend. I'm pretty much laid off in the winter so I have tons of time on my hands. This week I've gotten a few great workouts in, got my meals eaten and on time. I even got my wife's honey-do list almost complete. Last night picked up my brother and parents at the airport late at night (which never would have been able to happen on a Friday or Saturday). Lastly, SLEEP, i've gotten great sleep. I need to remind myself of these positive things almost daily. Now, I must come clean, if I go MIA for 24 hrs or so, it will likely be because I've convinced myself I'm having the time of my life having a few drinks. Which we all know is a bunch of crap. I won't be having the time of my life, I will be trading a day and half of pain for 6 hrs of "joy".
Sure, and my hat is off to you for taking action. What also helped me was fast walking, which I started at ten minutes per day. It really clears out the booze-tape running in the head. A big hug!
It's not boring at all. My 6 hours of joy decreased to one hour of respite over time - and even that was just putting me in a delusional state for that short time. Not worth that pittance for 23 hours of hell xxxx
In order for me to remain sober is to
not wait till im tempted to drink or go
out and pick up one. In order for me to
remain sober is to stay connected to
a recovery support group to either call
upon or share with.
I don't wait till something happens before
I seek help. I stay connected on a daily
bases as I continue to build a strong solid
foundation to live my life upon for days
to come.
Sharing or talking to someone in recovery,
someone that will be strong enough in their
own recovery life to help us when we have
hit a bump in the road. With our ESH-
experiences, strengths and hopes of what
our lives have been like before, during and
after alcohol or drugs we can share with
you, then some of that helpful knowledge
can help you seek a healthier solution instead
of one that is poison or destructive.
Even when days are good, bright, sunny
and all is well, those days I connect to
ESH to check in. In doing so I will be in
the habit of automatically asking for help
or just saying hello.
Practice and healthy habit forming tools
to use in recovery and life.
