So I had this nightmare...

I don't know if I'm posting too much, but here goes. In my nightmare, I had a drink. And I woke up in a cold sweat and gave a sigh of relief I have my 3 (almost 4) day sobriety. I'm so grateful for it, and I believe I was supposed to have this dream as a reminder. I can't sleep right now so I came here to talk to you guys.

I'm applying what I've learnt to other areas of my life. I ate a little too much, but I'm back to exercise this week. I've lost 100 lbs in 10 months, and I've got another 42 to lose. But perhaps I'll be a little kinder to myself, a little less obsessive. If it takes me a bit longer, so what?

:)

I for one would like to know what you have learnt to apply to other areas of your life.
Congrats on 4 days sober!

It's going to take some time, the first 90 days are said to be the toughest as your brain chemistry is all out of whack. Everyone's experience is different, but by reading here you will find others who have similar recovery experiences.

Don't worry about posting too much, that is why this is a support network, and there is great support here for you!

Best wishes

I had many dreams of drinking initially. It feels pretty freaky but also wonderful when you realise you didn't actually drink.

Kind of gives you the ability to celebrate the fact you stayed sober first thing in the morning, which is a nice way to start the day :a122:

Sarahlou,

Drinking dreams are part of the deal in early sobriety. The fact that it terrified you is good - even your subconscious wants to stay sober!

Congratulations on the weight loss - that's fantastic! As to the crisps... don't obsess about it, learn and move on. Progress, not perfection.

Post away!

Drinking dreams are normal. My sponsor had one recently. Many of us were in her dream but she was the only one drinking. She has 13 years sober.

They are just dreams. The are no different than any other dream but I agree they are hard to shake but they are perfectly normal.

Congrats on your sober time and your weight loss. Both are fantastic!

Seems unlikely. :)

The good thing is Dreams/Nightmares fade with time Sarah ((()))

Solid Analysis Brian!! ;)

Sarahlou dreams can be a part of the body adjusting, they can be quite the ride, but they too will become less frequent with time!!

Hang in there!! :)

I've had some drinking dreams that were unpleasant and I was always glad when I woke up and it was just a dream. They were very realistic some times.

I had occasional drinking dreams/nightmares in my first year or so. They seemed to occur on a random basis. My first one was terrifying and I also woke up in acold sweat. Took me a while to realise it was a nightmare. Phew...they have become less frequent over time...

You cannot post to much.
The best part of drink dreams is waking up and realizing life sober is the dream.
