There's absolutely nothing to be terrified of. Everyone there is there for exactly the same reason you are. They are there to help you and you will be there to help them.

Today could be a great turning point for you. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose. The main thing I was told was to look for the similarities to my own experience, rather than the differences. And I didn't have to do anything I didn't want to. Let us know how it goes.

I went to an AA meeting once with my dad. I was amazed at how friendly and cool everyone was. Some very interesting people.

We all wish you the best. I remember I was terrified of people just glancing at me, its called an irrational fear. A rational fear, is a fear of lions or heights. But what I had was an irrational fear, something that wasnt sane or right.

It went well. Lots of similarities and all very friendly people. Right now I'm going through withdrawals (typing is slow because I'm shaking lol). I really want a drink but I'm hanging in there.

.
Make sure you drink a lot of fluids (sport drinks or Gatorade are great to avoid electrolyte imbalance) and also if the withdrawals get worst and you start seeing or hearing things or getting chest pains don't hesitate to call 911.
I saw in your other thread that you are looking up more meetings. Good going and keep coming back to AA and to SR.

That's awesome Sarahlou, thanks for letting us know. I checked back on SR several times yesterday to see how it went - your sobriety matters to a lot more people than you probably realize.

Hang in there, take it one day at a time. You can do this.

Stick with it sarahlou; we are with you. Don't hesitate to seek medical assistance if you have any doubt at all. Is someone with you?

Feelings of depression and anxiety are absolutely normal. They are part of the withdrawal symptoms. They come at you almost like waves right and there are almost not thoughts attached to them.
Just accept them for what they are: your brain cravings chemicals.
Most of it will be over within a few days.

Feelings are not facts.
